Desert glamping The review by DP2401 below is 100% accurate. Unfortunetly we booked the same Rum Boutique Camp and the people who first pick you up force you to buy tours etc and the owner is truely rude. Becareful and book with someone else. The tent had no air con or fans but had good staff there and beautiful views.I recommend tourist to use other camps as they are more honest from what other travellers told me. I wish i read the below review earlier. Wadi rum is amazing and the glamping is a must! 1 night under the beautiful sky in the desert is a must!

Amazing views PLEASE READ! Wadi Rum is amazing especially for a stay overnight. But PLEASE PLEASE be clever in who you book with. The owner of our camp (wasi rum boutique camp) takes visitors to his home first and tries to up sell them tours. As we just wanted a lovely time to relax and just take in the views we politely refused. We were a couple with 2 suitcases. The owner very suddenly became rude and agressive. The owner who is called Emad, got his driver to pick us up from the visiors site. We thought they were going to take us to the Camp. But the driver took us to the owners house. In a local village. As soon as we went inside, he tried to upsell us tours. we advised we didnt want to do any tours and just wanted to relax. Emad told us if this is the case then take your bags and leave from here. If we had no suitcases we could have walked and got to the main road and tried somewhere else but we couldnt. He asked us to cancel the booking and take a hostel somewhere. I questioned why? As we just want to relax and see the views. He got very angry and aggressive and demanded money for the transport there and back and wanted 20JD for each way. We were in the middle of nowhere and at this point feeling scared and intimidated. We had to agree to the transport prices. He then wanted money for lunch and dinner. We advised the booking was half board. He refused and said you either pay or go hungry. He said its in the middle of the dessert so upto you. We understood we jad to pay for dinner but tried explaining we paid for half board which includes bed and breakfast. Again we were forced to pay. He then forced us and other visitors to cancel this booking online. I aswell as the other tourist refused this. But he started taking our phones off us and threatening us with leaving us alone to make our own way out. He said he wanted us to cancel this booking so he doesnt have to pay any fees or tax. We had no choice but to agree as we were scared and in the middle of nowhere. They took us to the camp but we had no phone network for 2 days. We couldnt contact the police or the hotel booking company. In total they took 90 JD dinar off us and were aggressive because we refused any tour rides. They only gave us dinner at night and nothing else. We had snack and water thank god. we were literally at their mercy and had to do what they told us. One of the owners are married to a french national who helps tje business. Both are quite nice. Samir the cooker and helper as well as Daniel are lovely.The reviews that are left on other sites regarding the experience can not be true In our 2 days there, 13 people had experienced exactly the same. i do not know if all the camps operate like this but what I do know is that this camp is owned by a rude an agressive man. He was the first poont of contact and really made us uncomfortable. While we were at the camp, the other staff were nice and all was calm UNTIL he turned up. Again he made us uncomfortable amd uneasy. He ripped us off and we did not budget for this. When we met people who experienced the same we felt alittle more safe with them. The day of our checkout, Emad sent his driver to force us aswell as other tourist to leave at 8. We advised we wanted to ginish breakfast and that check out was 12pm but the driver was very rude and said no! Go get your things and come. You all need to go right now. Forget the checking time. Again we rushed to get all our belongings and go. PLEASE PLEASE becareful who you book with and what is included. Sort everything out before you arrive and make it clear to your camp. Tell them in advance that you need picking and dropping and sort the prices out before you go. Dont be afraid to refuse tours if you do not want to go. Check if the camps have AC or atleast a fan if you go in the summer.

Camel riding to watch the sunset....just amazing We went to Wadi Rum as part of a Jordan tour. We stayed at the Sarah Luxury Camp, it was lovely, but they didn't turn on the AC before we arrived and the rooms were stifling hot. We had to hide out in the reception area to cool down. We went out for a jeep ride which was not as good as what I hoped it would be. There was not 'off-roading', we just drove out in to the desert and stopped at the home/shop of a bedouin. We then saw a carving in the cliffside, thought to be 2500 years old.We returned to our camp and then went out on our camel ride - this was the highlight of Wadi Rum. We went out about 45mins and then stopped (got off the camels) and watched the amazing sunset. It was just beautiful and a good bonding time for our tour group. We returned to the camp for a locally cooked meal (cooked in the ground and they have a wee ceremony to show everyone when they bring the food back up). The food was very nice, but unfortunately I think that I got food poisoning here, because I was ill for the next 14days after this meal. There was dancing and shisha available outside after dinner.

Lots of sand but always similar sights... Bouncing around in a canopied jeep while riding through a desert would not be my choice of experiences, but for some, such an outing could be exciting. It was interesting seeing lots of sand but always similar sights. There were indeed several photo stops just for visitors which of course would be the highlights. However, although I will not downgrade this to impact the score for others who might enjoy, I would definitely not spend the time or money on another trip to the area.

Stunning scenery, a real bucket list experience The landscape that you see is spectacular and plentiful, Jeep travels to many different parts of the desert, and it’s like you are in a different country.Guide very good and knowledgeable, I did the sunset tour and was greeted at the end with stunning sunset views, for that reason I would recommend doing the sunset tour.I drove from Aqaba and it was nice and easy with no problems with good signage. 1 checkpoint to go through but no issues at all.Wadi Rum is in a National Park so there is an entrance fee, if you have a Jordan Pass it’s included.

Stunning but busy. Our half day afternoon tour of the protected area came after we had spent the morning driving around outside of the protected area. Although we really enjoyed the protected area it was much busier with numerous vehicles clustered around honey pot sites and there were lots of camps. By contrast, we only met other tourists at one stop in a deep canyon in the unprotected area. The vistas were stunning with white, yellow and rust red sands, high dunes and interesting rock formations. Do not write off the area outside the protected area.

Thanks to Abdullah Sudan Zweidah I did the truck drive through the desert with Abdullah Sudan Zweidah, a local Bedouin from Wadi Rum. It was very good. Saw all the Nabatean wall drawings, famous movie shooting locations, etc. It is a sight to behold. I would gladly visit again!

Amazing landscape and ecology sadly let down by lack of environmental protection. The geographical features of the Wadi Rum area are outstanding. The contrasting terrain has incredible natural beauty and changes spectacularly with the light during the course of the day. The management and protection of the fragile ecology has been entrusted to the Bedouin tribes that formerly roamed the area, most of whom are now resident in Wadi Rum village. This is an admirable idea as it provides a source of income and employment however more needs to be done to conserve the area. Although not quite into the category of mass tourism the area is becoming very popular and all of the easily accessible features are inundated with tourists and vehicles. Very little emphasis is placed on conservation and it was extremely disappointing to see the incredible landscape spoiled with trash. In summary trash everywhere freely blowing in the wind, in particular plastic water bottles, discarded food wrappers and styrofoam containers. As a world heritage site environmental education should be a priority focus which will in turn preserve the priceless value of the incredible nature and ensure its preservation for future generations
